There seems to be a new trend for high end fashion designers to work with commercial clothing retailers. H&M announced that they are planning a collaboration with the Italian fashion house Versace. The new limited edition collection will be launched 17th November in 300 stores worldwide. Designer Donatella Versace told CBS News about the collaboration, “I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching its wide audience. The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere.”
Versace is not the first designer to work with the Swedish fashion giant. H&M has previosly been working with designers like Lanvin, Karl Largerfeld, Jimmy Choo, Matthew Williamson, Sonia Rykiel and Stella McCartney.
The collection will include colorful prints for women, studded leather and tuxedos for men. There will also be limited items for home like cushions and beddings, which is the first time for a H&M and designer collaboration.
The launch of the new collection is in a good time for H&M, since their sales have been going down lately and these limited collections tend to sell out in a matter of days.
This is great news for all you fashionistas out there, who cannot afford the high end designer wear because this exclusive collection will come at an affordable price.
