Biograhpy
Dior’s life was not very notable until after World War II. Prior to the war, Christian studied political science in Paris to appease his parent’s wishes of education. He broke out of the educational world in the mid 1940’s, when he was a middle aged man and started his own fashion line. He is credited with introducing the fashion trend, the βNew Look.β Essentially, it brought back all of the passion and beauty of the earlier part of the century. Dior is often quoted with saying that the dresses his mother wore when he was a child are what inspired him to bring back the grandeur to his line of work. Some critics said that Dior was merely regressing in his fashion sense and that it was doing nothing more than bringing back ideas and styles that were outdated and ugly. No matter the conclusion journalists came to about his work, people were always stunned when a new Dior line hit the streets during his ten year career. After the war, the reemergence of French fashion did a lot of bring Paris back to the world stage as a notable contributor to world fashion.
