Herrera was initially named one of the best dressed women in the entire world. She often cites her South American upbringing as the source of her inspiration when it comes to fashion. She moved into designing her own clothes when her friends began showing interest in her use of fabrics and attention to detail. Carolina always claimed that she knew what the women of the era wanted and she was going to deliver it to them. She designed dresses that accentuated the female figure and maintained elegance. She has been praised by many fellow designers and reporters for her understanding of what people of each era need and providing it to them.
