He is often quoted with saying, “Women who wear my clothing aren’t afraid to be noticed.” Popularized by Cher in the 1970’s, Mackie’s clothes became sought after by numerous celebrities after that.

Biograhpy
In Mackie’s early career he began designing and fitting wigs and costumes for guests on Carol Burnett’s variety show. He worked the job for 11 years all the while designing costumes and dresses for the singer, Cher. Ready to break into the real world fashion market in the 1980’s, Mackie’s fans were in the thousands. Fans were eager to get a taste of what Mackie had to offer to the general public. Mackie continued to awe the press and fans as he released fashion lines that could be taken more seriously than the glamorous and over the top gowns worn by TV personalitites. As he began to retire from that line of work, Mackie eventually made his way into designing costumes for ballet’s. His career has spanned decades and his work has graced the bodies of many celebrities. He is one of the most celebrated fashion designers in the film and entertainment world to date.
