Alberta Feretti began by dropping out of high school at the age of 18 to open her own fashion boutique. She started by carrying small name brands and through some savvy business sense, grew to include things like Armani and Versace in just a few years. Through a stroke of luck, a designer found her store one day and told her that her own designs should be sold at more locations. Ferretti took the advice and started her own fashion line and moved her clothing into stores over Italy and eventually worldwide. She made her debut at a 1993 fashion show where her clothes took everyone by surprise. Combining sexiness with simplicity, her togas and dresses were a hit. She now has boutiques in New York City and all across Europe. Her success in recent years can also be contributed to celebrity approval of her work. The likes of Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman have both given praise to Ferretti’s sleek and sexy designs.
