For summer I found jumpsuits to be a great must have with a loose cut and flowy summary fabric. Now that he winter is here you can still stay on the trend by wearing a jumpsuit with a bit more of a winter touch. A few months ago Lindsay Lohan showed off her fashion design together with Ungaro at the Paris Fashion Week and critics were attacking the whole collection of short and flashy clothes and heart covered nipples. But something that the collection brought was the sequin blazers which somehow went on to becoming a hit trend for this fall! Today we can see the sequin blazer everywhere in shops in all kinds of shapes and colors. Fashion designers like Sonia Rykiel, Tibi and Paul & Joe has also joined in on the trend. I’m sure this trend will be hanging on for the whole winter as it’s a great piece that gives that extra glam to your outfit even in the most dull and dark times of winter. You can wear it with a long tank top dress and leggings or a simple shirt and skinny jeans. You can also wear it with a hot party dress and nice heels. The most important key to wearing a sequin blazer is to make sure that the rest of your oufit has more simple colors and prints. Try and stick to just one piece of sequin in one outfit, too much and you will look like a Christmas tree!

If you are looking for a chic and super trendy piece I recommend that you try the tuxedo! The tuxedos for women is yet another masculine hot trend that seems to become more and more popular among the celebrities. This Fall the movie Coco Avant Chanel has created some new trends in the fashion world. It can be seen everywhere in shops as well as on the celebrities and now I’m starting to see it on the streets. Even in the last Chanel campaign Coco Cocoon with Lily Allen this trend could be seen. The early 20’s style is the super hot trend for Fall/Winter 2009/2010. The fabrics, the pearls, the jackets it’s all here but with a 21st century’s twist. I’m in love with this trend with the black, white and cream colors and the rough fabrics but with soft and feminine details like the bows and pearls. The high street stores like for example H&M’s Trend collection is out with some beautiful pieces that has that Coco Chanel look to them. The boyfriend look has been a very hot trend this year and something we saw already in Spring 2009 is the boyfriend but jeans. Now, some might think that this trend has already passed but I believe that it’s here to stay for at least another season. We are now in Fall and it’s the perfect time to start wearing those jeans again. What’s great about these jeans is that they are so versatile, comfortable and easy to dress down or dress up. You can go with a boho style and some gladiator sandals and a loose fitted tee, or wear the jeans with peep-toe boots and a sequin top. There are different types of boyfriend jeans, depending on how authentic you want your look to be. You can either borrow your boyfriend’s jeans or go and buy a pair of men’s jeans in a meanswear or vintage shop. But the jeans don’t have to be your boyfriend’s jeans, because you can find so many jeans made for women but still gives the look of boyfriend jeans. Remember to turn them up at the bottom to give that oversized look. Some boyfriend jeans follows the ripped jeans trend, but it’s not a must. When wearing the boyfriend jeans it’s important that you show off your feminine features, otherwise you might look more like a bum or maybe even like your boyfriend.

We all know what’s the meaning of a woman wearing the trousers, but what does it mean when the woman wears the tie?

Women have always been big fans of accessories: colorful scarves, belts, earrings and necklaces but what about ties? Ties can add color and interest to your outfit – making a boring and regular outfit to a very attractive one.

The trend of women wearing a tie is not new. It started in the 1970s and became successful when Diane Keaton popularized the Annie Hall look and made it a fashion statement. Her wide ties, combined with men’s shirts and waistcoats, became a very popular female look. During those times, wide ties on men’s shirts for women were the popular trend, but that has changed a bit over time, and today ladies ties are usually slimmer than that of men’s and you don’t have to wear men’s shirts.

The question is how can a traditional symbol of masculinity look just as good and lovely on women? When women wear ties, it never fails to catch the eye. Because ties are traditionally associated with men, when a woman wears a tie it suggests a stronger fashion statement. Ties compliment women by creating contrast. It creates a different look, something unusual, something beyond the norm and average. Imagine a feminine look wearing masculine outfit – that is very different indeed. Of course, a woman would need to know how to carry herself appropriately when wearing a tie, preferably with confidence.

So can any woman wear a tie? Some stylists think it is a tricky trend to follow. But if you have the right attitude and personality to carry a tie, one can look great wearing it as ties on women add a bit of quirkiness and help them show off their funky side. I agree, you’ll need some self-confidence to wear a tie but you will be amazed at the spice it will add to your look.

There are numerous ways to wear, combine and play with your tie. The most popular look with women is to wear a skinny tie with a fitted shirt/blouse or on a waist coat or vest. There are ties in various widths and patterns to finish off an outfit. For some dramatic element, you can choose a metallic or crystal jewelled ties with stones and embellishments. With a tie, there is lot of freedom to play around and experiment. Many women simply let the tie hang loose around an unbuttoned shirt collar or on top of a T-shirt and get the hot androgyny look. Women’s ties also look great with skirts. It’s not necessarily mini-skirts all the time. It also looks great on office skirts. The key is to experiment with any combination you can think of and you are bound to find great styles and gorgeous new looks.
In my opinion women need to take the next step when wearing ties. Unfortunately women usually wear conventional black boring ties but I think it’s about time to use colorful vibrant and zesty ties.

The fall has arrived and there are some new trends that is just neccessary for our wardrobes. If you haven’t done your fall shopping yet, here are the top 10 must haves for fall 2009.

1. Faux fur

This fall Faux Fur, aka fake fur, is a big trend. They have been cropping up a lot lately, from the runway to the street looks. They can now be found in stores everywhere like Topshop and Zara. You can get a fluffy faux fur jacket with a pair of skinny jeans or a nice dress. Even a nice faux fur vest would go nice with a floaty blouse or tee before the winter weather starts.

2. Over the knee boots

The over the knee boot is a trend that might need some more guts but definitely a must have. You can find them in so many different styles and I’m sure you will find one that suits you. You can wear them over leggings, skinny jeans or with a nice dress.

3. Leather jacket

The leather jacket has always been a hot item for the wardrobe, but this year it’s hotter than ever. You can go for a cropped jacket with three quarter sleeves or longer lenghts. There are endless or styles and colors and what’s great about this jacket is that you can wear it with almost anything, a hot dress or just a loose tee.

4. Prominent shoulder

We have seen this trend on the runway many times this year and at first I have to say I didn’t really like it. But as soon as I saw Balmain’s spring collection I fell in love with it. It has definitely become a must have for the fall. You will find the prominent shoulder with jackets as well as dresses.

5. Sequin

Sequin is back. I never thought I would see that again for a long time. But it’s here and it’s super hot! Our biggest fashion designers like Balmain, Alexander McQueen and Michael Kors have done them in beautiful creations and we can finally find them in our stores. It’s definitely a great item for a night out!

6. Military jacket

This trend is one of my favourites for fall 2009. The military jacket also called the Michael Jackson jacket is one of the biggest trends this year. Balmain was the very first to show these jackets last spring. Now we can see them being worn by celebrities and in the latest collections of H&M, Zara and Mango and more.

7. Cardigan

Cardigan for me has always been a must have, but this year is a really hot trend. The cardigan looks great on any body shape since there are so many styles and it works for any age group. A style I really like is the asymmetrical cardigan which can be worn with jeans or leggings. It’s an item that can be worn for work, class and even for the weekend.

8. Colorful handbag

Make the fall a bit more colorful this year and get a chic colorful handbag. It’s a nice way of adding a touch of color to your accessories. Go for a hot and trendy color of the fall like purple, cyan, wine red or blue.

9. Platform pumps

Pumps was trendy even last year, but this time it’s back with a bit of a platform. The platform pumps adds a little bit more sexiness to your outfit and goes with a daily look as well as a hot dress for a night out.

10. One shoulder dress

The one shoulder dress has been seen a lot this year and it’s definitely a must have for this fall. You can find  sexy one shoulder dresses and tops in various fabrics and styles.

Are you looking for a jumpsuit? I’ve been trying to find a jumpsuit, but there are so many options of styles that I don’t know what to go for anymore. One of my favourite jumpsuits is the strapless one with a wide strap wrapped around the waist. I love the fact that the jumpsuit can be worn as an elegant outfit for an evening out if you find it in the right fabric which has a bit of a flow. A nice accessorie to the jumpsuit could be a waist belt with a matching color. Add a nice pair of pumps and it will make the look complete! If you are looking for a jumpsuit for daily and relaxed wear I suggest you go for a softer stretchy fabric like jersey or cotton with some nice sandals. Even a denim jumpsuit can be a cool outfit for a nice day out. The jumpsuit is a perfect outfit for those of you who don’t feel like doing a big effort and you can easily hide things that you don’t want to show.

Have you ever seen someone walking on the street and thought, my god what is she thinking? A lot of women walk around wearing the most crazy outfits and matches thinking that they look amazing. Everyone  wants to look good when it comes to fashion. But there are a few things that we have to keep in mind when we choose what to wear… mistakes that can completely ruin an otherwise good outfit.

Whatever shape you are, there are some fashion mistakes that should be avoided. Here I have listed the top 10 worst fashion mistakes that you can make:

1. A lot of different colors

Colors can bring out the worst of you or the best. It all depends on your complexion. If you are wearing the wrong colors it can make your skin look pale and wrinkles can be more visible. Find your colors that suits you. Also remember not to mix colors that doesn’t match like purple with brown or red with green.

2. Wearing wrong fitted clothing

Some people tend to do the mistake of wearing too tight fitted outfits where you can see things you shouldn’t be seeing. If you don’t have the right body for it, please be aware. Also be careful with wearing oversized clothing. Some clothes are made to be oversized, like we can see at current trends with loose tees with high waist belts etc. But to wear a huge tee that has sleeves coming down to your elbow and looks more like a dress is not very attractive. The clothes have to be proportional to your body. If you are very tall you should avoid short tops or trousers cause it will eccentuate your length even more, as well as if you are short you should avoid too long trousers. A lot of women often wear skirts that are too short and sometimes even show parts that only your boyfriend should be seeing. If you wear a short skirt make sure not to wear a small top with it, it will make you look trashy.

3. The wrong accessories

Never over do it with the accessories. Avoid mixing styles of jewelry and wear something that represents your personality and match with your style. Make sure that you choose the right lenght of a necklace so it doesn’t make your neck look bigger or smaller. If you are dressing smart for an evening, you can wear a sleek clutch instead of a puffy bag so you don’t get all the attention to your bag. Or if you wear a big belt, make sure it doesn’t take over your outfit.

4. Too much make-up

A lot of people do this mistake. First of all you should wear the right type of make-up for the right occassion. For a daily work look, try a light make-up and stay with the natural look. The natural look is more sophisticated and people will actually take you more serious if you are not wearing a lot of heavy make-up. For an evening out you can go for a more smoky darker make-up. Make sure that you wear colors that suits your complexion. And never over do it with the foundation. Sometimes I see women with an edge around their face where the foundation ends, it’s just hideous. If you wan’t a simple fresh looking cover I recommend a powder which is easy to apply and takes no time.

5. Wearing the wrong clothes at the wrong time

Avoid wearing short skirts for work. It obviously depends what typ of job you have but in an office environment you should try to avoid clothes that are challenging like short skirts, deep cleavage, wide necklines or to much jewelry. 6. Wearing different patterns

A lot of different patterns will make you look messy. If you for example wear a stripy top, don’t wear a flower printed skirt. Instead stick to one piece with patterns and match it with a plain simple color. Keep in mind, less is more.

7. Wrong hair due

Sometimes people seems to be stuck in a hair due from another century. Ok, some hair dues comes back into trends but make sure you are not outdated, it can ruin your whole outfit. Avoid messy hair. If you have a bad hair day, you can just brush it up and make a simple pony tail.

8. Visible panty line or bra

If you wear a white dress or white trousers you should avoid dark colored underwear and it might be a good idea to wear g-string. Stick to to colors same as your skin tone. If you are wearing a top with a low back be careful not to show your bra, it just doesn’t look good. Find a bra that is made for low back clothing so you can hide it. If you are wearing a halter neck dress or top make sure to find a bra with a halter neck strap. Something I would avoid is the transparent straps, they draw more attention than normal straps because it’s so obvious that you are trying to hide them.

9. Trying to follow many different fashion trends

Don’t try to wear everything. The worst thing you can do is to mix different fashion trends in one outfit. Stick to one and keep it simple.

10. Elder dressed as youngster

Something I can’t stand seeing is when elder women tries to dress like a teenager. When you get older you have to make sure to wear something that’s appropriate for your age. It’s better to show less than too much. You can still look hot with a trendy outfit, but trendy for your age group.
